About Louise

Louise Jones is a nineteen-year-old soprano from the Netherlands, currently residing in New York, where she is pursuing her studies at the Manhattan School of Music under the guidance of renowned baritone Sidney Outlaw. Louise's passion for singing and her deep love for music and the arts have driven her to fully dedicate herself to her development as a classical vocalist.

Born in the Netherlands to a father from the Caribbean islands and a mother with a rich musical heritage, Louise was exposed to a wide range of musical styles from an early age. Her father, who brought the warm, rhythmic sounds of the Caribbean with him, shared his love for this vibrant music, which laid the foundation of rhythm and melody in Louise's musical upbringing. On the other hand, her mother's classical influences came from Louise’s grandfather, a respected organist and conductor who led the boys’ choir where Louise’s parents met. His influence on the musical world played a significant role in shaping Louise’s love for classical music.

Louise's musical journey began at a young age when she became a member of the National Mixed Youth Choir. This experience gave her the opportunity to collaborate with other talented young singers and develop her solo skills. Her talent became evident during numerous performances, including a memorable solo at the famous Concertgebouw in Amsterdam. A pivotal moment in her development came when the choir toured Hungary, providing her with the chance to immerse herself even further in classical music.

At 17, Louise made the decision to move to Shanghai, to study at the prestigious New York University Shanghai (NYUSH). While her time in Shanghai was momentous and formative, Louise quickly realized that her true passion for classical music would thrive in New York. The city, with its rich musical heritage and cultural diversity, presented an ideal environment for Louise to further hone her talents.

Now a year later, Louise is pursuing a Bachelor of Music at the Manhattan School of Music, where she continues to refine her technique and deepen her interpretation of classical music under the expert mentorship of Sidney Outlaw. Her artistic growth is evident in her performances, and she is steadily building a promising future in the classical music world.
